Praia de Alagoa has a calm, shallow sea and a long stretch of fine sand for walks along the shore. Altura has restaurants serving Algarvian and Mediterranean cooking. The area is also ideal for cycling and walking in Ria Formosa, the Castro Marim marshlands and along the Guadiana. Several golf courses are 5–10 km away; at Vila Real de Santo António marina, you can hire a boat for sport fishing, take a trip upriver or cross to Spain.
